We joyfully welcome you to this month which is our month of Let Thy Kingdom Come. It is also our spiritual emphasis month were everything we’ll do is aimed at ensuring that our spiritual growth in Christ takes a different step.
A kingdom as defined by the dictionary is a country, state or territory ruled by a king or queen. Biblically, it is the spiritual reign or authority of God. So letting the kingdom of God come basically has to do with we making sure that in all our lives, God’s kingdom would be established here on earth. It is actually a time to develop a closer relationship with God. Every Christian should strive to have a personal relationship with God through the constant reading of His word, and make it a part of his/her daily life. Every Christian should also strive to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord- a life that is worthy of emulation to every other person. God’s perfect will must be established first in our lives here on earth, and that should be the focus and desire of every believer.
FOUR PRINCIPLES TO GUIDE US.
1. We must know that God loves us and offers us a wonderful plan for our lives. God demonstrated His love for us in John 3:16 when He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Our responsibility as Christians is to believe in God.
2. We must know that all of us sinned and our sins have separated us from God. And this places a clarion call on us to always ask for our sins both knowingly and unknowingly to be forgiven us, and also pray to overcome every weakness in our lives that lead us to sin. Romans 3:23 and Romans 6:23.
3. We must know that Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for our sins and through Him we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can get to God. Romans 5:8.
4. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour of our lives then we can know and experience God’s plan and love for our lives. John 1:2. We have to receive Christ for ourselves.
Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self, that is repentance, trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive us our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that He dying on the cross for our sins is not enough nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. You’ll receive Jesus Christ by faith as an act of will.
After giving your life to Christ, you’re not on your own again. Every step you take and everything you do must/should be directed by God. After giving your life to Christ, you must fight for your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father I thank You for Your love and plan for my life. I thank You for letting Your only begotten to come and die to save me from my sins. I pray that your perfect will be established in my life. Father, direct every step and everything I do. Strengthen me to overcome every weakness in my life. In Jesus Christ name. Amen
