After you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Personal saviour, it doesn’t end there. There are certain things, though might have been static, that must be seen gradually change in your life. Such things are the determinants that portray your growth or stagnation in the faith you express. Even in the physical world, children when born, are expected to grow. No parents would want their kids to remain kids despite all the efforts they put in they ensure their growth and development. And so it is also with the one who’s given his/her life to Jesus Christ. As a born again Christian, you must understand that you need to be deliberate in changing certain things about yourself.
One of the things you must understand when you give your life to Christ is that your mind is still the same, however, it must be renewed. Romans 12:2 instructs us to, “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. Renewing your mind is an important part of living a successful Christian life. But if you’re new to the Christian life or new to the spirit-filled Christian life, you may be asking “What exactly does it mean? To renew your mind is basically to know what the perfect will of God is. When you become born again, you must strive to know what’s acceptable in the sight of God. What you used to do in the past must cease. The man whose mind is renewed doesn’t conform to the standards of the world. When you become born again you must begin to understand that there’s an acceptable way of living in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and you must renew your mind to accept this new way of living. Society must begin to see the Christ that you profess in you.

HOW TO RENEW YOUR MIND

1. By the word of God. John 15:3
Our minds are like computers and the best way to format them is by uploading onto them new programmes. It’s God’s word that transforms and renews. You must constantly read the word of God if you really want to have your mind renewed; you must yearn for this word. You must understand that you’re not cleansed by prophecies but by the word. Be committed to your spiritual growth such that you feel incomplete without the word. Try and also join a bible discussion class where you’ll be encouraged in the Lord.

2. Through prayer. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Prayer is the expression of our faith in Christ. You cannot renew your mind if you don’t love prayer. The more you pray the more you experience God and His saving grace. Oftentimes prayerlessness leads to carnality, which is inimical to the growth of the new convert. Reading the word of God is not enough, you must accompany is with prayer, all the time.

3. Change your circle of friends. 1 Corinthians 15:33-34, Psalm 1:1-3, 2 Corinthians 6:14-15
You can’t be born again and still maintain your old circle of friends, especially those you used to commit sins with or those who add no meaning to your life. If nothing at all, the only reason you must still keep them, is so you preach Christ to them so as to be also saved like you other than that there’s no reason keeping them. You cannot make progress if you continue to keep old friends. Bible admonishes us to stay away from bad company as it corrupts good manners.

4. Join and remain committed to a bible believing church. Ephesians 5:25-27, Ephesians 10:25, Matthew 9:35.
A bible believing church teaches people to be holy and blameless before God. A bible believing church doesn’t compromise the word of God; it teaches the word of God, preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ and heals the sick. Join and remain committed to a church that will encourage you to grow in the Lord.

In conclusion, know that God desires and expects that His children be free now and live victoriously over the evil caused by the enemy. He wants you to live His Word because it is the key to your deliverance and success. So begin renewing your mind now. Get God’s perspective about your marriage, your relationships, your ministry, your career, your business connections, your children, your health, your money and any other area. Renewing your mind on God’s Word will revolutionize your life for the better, and there’s no better time to get started!
