ALLOWING JESUS TO BE LORD OVER OUR LIVES
Scripture Reference: Revelations 3:20-21, Acts 2:36

Our saviour’s great objective in all His redemptive work on the cross was to enable Him become lord over every believer and even over unbeliever. His death on the cross was not just to get us saved so we continue to live or stay in our sins, and later come to Him to ask for His forgiveness again. His death ideally is to enable Him have total control over our lives. Whether we recognise it or not Jesus is Lord. Acts 2:36. He’s been rewarded absolute supremacy over everything in the world now and the world to come. He has no equal and has no superior; there’s none before, beside or beyond Him.
Christians underestimate the lordship of Jesus over our lives, thus, in our own ways we struggle to acknowledge that. But Christians need not to work themselves all out to live righteous lives. All they need to do is tune their minds and allow Jesus have control over their lives. Christians are not to apply their intellect to questions the instructions of God. When dealing with God, we’re to follow Him and obey His instructions wholeheartedly. It is for our own good that we allow Jesus take control over everything about us. Revelations 3:20-21.
OF WHAT ARE WE TO CROWN JESUS LORD?
The answer is, our whole life! If Jesus is the lord of our lives it means He exercises complete sovereignty in the realms of our spirits, souls and bodies. It means He also exercises absolute control over our hearts, minds and wills. To put it more succinctly, if Jesus is the lord over our lives, it means He is sovereign in all areas of our lives- our body and all its parts, soul, spirits, and even our homes, occupations, finances, businesses, marriages, etc.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN, OR IMPLY, TO CROWN JESUS LORD OF ALL?
• To crown Jesus lord of all implies absolute ownership. If Jesus is lord over our lives, then all that we are and have are His. We do not belong to ourselves. Neither do we do things of our own. Everything about us now belongs to Him, and everything we do must be to glorify Him.
• To crown Jesus lord of all means unquestioning obedience. If Jesus is lord over our lives, then whatever He says we shall do. It is absolutely wrong to consider Him as our Lord and not obey His instructions or His commandments. Acts 9:6.
• To crown Jesus lord of all implies wholehearted service. If Jesus is lord of our lives, wherever He directs us we shall go without questioning His directions. In Isaiah 6:1,5,8, Isaiah recognised the lordship of Jesus Christ before He eventually came to the earth to die to save us from our sins.
• To crown Jesus lord of all also means that whatever Jesus gives us, we shall satisfactorily accept it because our perfect trust is in Him only. Job 1:21.
HOW CAN WE CROWN JESUS LORD OF ALL?
We cannot by our own strength crown Jesus lord of all. We need a special assistance from the Holy Spirit. There’s actually no one who can say ‘’Jesus is Lord,’ except such a person is convicted by the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we give You all the glory and all the honor for being Lord of all. We acknowledge Your rulership and we acknowledge Your kingship. We humbly ask that the Holy Spirit convict us and strengthen us to always be in the know that Your Lordship is always exercised in every aspect of our lives. In Your name we pray. Amen
